Sometimes in the past while watching animated movies of all sorts, I've lulled myself into thinking most characters are interchangeable, in that it didn't matter who voiced the character, as long as they did it competently.
Now, after seeing and enjoying "Despicable Me" I'll never have those thoughts again. With absolute certainty I will say, Steve Carell voicing the main character Gru is what makes this movie rise above ordinary. He is just made for this kind of stuff and could make the rest of his career on it, never appearing on screen himself.
Steve Carell's character, Gru, views himself as the most despicable person ever, anywhere. But suddenly he is upstaged by a young man, Vector, who steals the shrinking machine. We see this early on when tourists find out the great pyramid is an inflatable prop, because Vector shrunk the real one and stole it.
So Gru decides to steal the shrinking machine from Vector, and to pull the most audacious theft in history, will build a rocket to take him to the moon, shrink the moon, and bring it back with him.
Pretty ambitious stuff! But he needs help to get into Vector's fortress and, when he notices three orphan girls get in easily, decides to adopt the girls and use them in his scheme.
Somewhere along the path to his crimes Gru, the most despicable person on Earth, begins to care about the three girls, and that is the humanity of the story.
But all in all it is just a silly cartoon story, fun to watch, but Steve Carell with his superb vocal acting makes it worth seeing.
I was fascinated by the extras on the DVD. This movie was made by a large number of people scattered all over the world, never all at the same place. They used modern communications and linking technology to operate as one big team, rather than being physically together.

"Atonement" tells a story of a young girl (Saoirse Ronan) who witnesses a terrible thing which changes many lives dramatically. What is real and what is the truth? "Atonement" plays with these subjects.
Joe Wright has directed a brilliant drama where beautiful scenery and great story play the biggest part. The brilliant novel by Ian McEwan is fitted to the silver screen fantastically. The suspense is holding you tight in its grip. The music supports the movie and gives a delightful touch to the storytelling. The cast especially James McAvoy as Robbie and young and talented Saoirse Ronan as Briony deliver their roles with such a presence. The appearance of Vanessa Redgrave is great also. The episodic scene technique was imaginative and very mind-teasing which was a very essential ingredient to the plot.
It was very surprising that director Wright didn't get a Oscar nomination for his achievement. The screenplay of Christopher Hampton also lost in the Academy Awards. Both Wright and Hampton did a superb job. But this was clearly a year of the Coen brothers, very well earned of course. Gladly Dario Marianelli won the Golden Statue for best achievement in music.
"Atonement" is a clever, beautiful, emotional and touching experience. Definitely a worth watching!本回答被提问者采纳

“Is life always this hard, or is it just when you’re a kid?” Mathild asked. “Always like this.” Leon answered. I fell in love with the movie at the first sight when I saw it. However, it’s unbelievable that such a good film didn’t receive any awards at the time though it really shocked the whole movie world. Whatever, I love this film, for everything.
Leon’s main actor named Jean Reno, a famous French actor, and the actress was Natalie Portman. It was a sad story, mixed up with fright, action, and romance, about a 12 years old girl and a mid-aged killer.
Leon was a special killer. During working, he was a heartless man, and ironically, he was really lonely, quiet, and dull in the daily life. Mathild, a poor little girl, was always hit by her family members. The more unfortunate thing was that her families were killed by a vicious organization. Then, Leon saved her, and gave her a warm home. Like all other films, something special happened between them after they lived together.
What I interested in about the movie was the ending song and the details of Leon’s habits. Let me talk about Leon first. He liked sitting in his sofa quietly with all curtain drawn, smoking. No one knew what he was thinking about. He liked milk, not something full of alcohol, like we thought all about a brutal killer. Ever week, he went to the shop to buy two boxes of milk. He liked a pot culture, for it had no root, just like him. He took it with him to every place he went, and clean every leaf of it. The director showed us so many details that we could know Leon’s special personalities clearly. Second, the ending song was so attractive that I kept it in my MP5 until now. Its name was The Shape of My Heart, sung by Sting, an English singer. His exquisite voice gave us a feeling of gloomy. Not only the melody of the song, but the words were vary beautiful and blue, just like the fundamental key of the movie. As a whole, Leon told us that there was array in the world. No matter who the man was, what occupation he took, and how cold he showed, there was a soft and gentle part in the deep of his heart.
In my opinion, everyone should watch it because we can learn something about life. I love it for its meaning, music and plot.
The Return of the King is the third step of the famous movie The Lord of the Ring , which is adapted according to a novel of the same name written by J.R.R Talkien. It was made by the well-known director Peter Jackson. It was shown in December 17th, 2003 and received lots of favorable comments from all over the world.
The movie describes a story that the former fellowship of the ring, Sauron, prepares for the final battle for Middle Earth, while Frodo and Sam approach Mount Doom to destroy the ring. Sam is Frodo’s gardener. They are brave. They are accompanied by Gollum who is sly and always casts greedy eyes on the ring. Aragon is a brave and strong man, fighting for the harmony of the earth.
It is well worth enjoying this movie, which ever was the winner of eleven Academy Awards. What’s more, I can learn some important lessons from it that if we want to do something well, we should stick it out bravely and that love including friendship is powerful.
