英语大神请进，雅思英语长难句语法里双谓语不太明白，请讲解一个句子？

he later went on to attend the royal college of chemistry,which succeeded in entering in 1853,at the age of 15.——出处：剑9
这是话前半句went 和 attend 都是谓语，不是说一句话里面不能有两个谓语吗？
跟下面这句：There are lots of people choose to drive regardless of the high price of petrol...不是一样吗？为什么第二句就是有双谓语错误呢？？？

which 后面是从句谓语动词 。which 指代the royal college of chemistry
第二句 people后面加个who 就对了 ，就变成了主从复合句。没有who就成了一个句子 谓语重复追问

但是第一句话那个on,to都是介词，介词可以叠用吗？还有那个went 和attend这两个也是动词啊?

let's go on with it .不知道是不是你说的叠用。to attend 这不是谓语go to read ，go to drive，go to sleep
学雅思重要的是会做阅读会写作文和会听说。死扣语法真心无用。我高中后再也没看过语法书。
